PROFESSIONAL
BACKGROUND:
Mr. Braun received his Bachelor of Arts from
the University of Calgary in 1993 and his Bachelor
of Laws from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1996. Upon
graduation from Osgoode, he joined Singleton Urquhart
Scott as an articling student where he continued as
an associate practicing general civil litigation, with
a focus on insurance defense. In 2002, he was made
a partner at Scott Hall LLP, and since then, in addition
to continuing to develop his insurance defense practice,
he has developed a corporate and commercial practice.
As part of his litigation practice, Mr. Braun has
appeared on matters at the Provincial Court of Alberta
(Civil and Criminal), the Alberta Court of Queen's
Bench and the Alberta Court of Appeal. In addition,
he has significant experience with Judicial Dispute
Resolution and private mediation.
As part of his corporate/commercial practice, Mr.
Braun has acted on behalf of both private and public
companies. He has experience in general corporate and
commercial matters, such as giving advice to officers
and directors on liability issues and the preparation
of share purchase agreements, asset purchase agreements,
unanimous shareholders agreements, co-ownership agreements,
joint venture agreements, and management agreements.
Mr. Braun has also developed as part of his practice
the representation of amateur and professional athletes.
He presently represents a number of hockey players
playing in both North America and Europe.
