PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND:

Robert (Bob) Hall, Q.C. articled in Calgary in 1977 and practiced with a prominent Calgary law firm until joining our firm in 1995. He has been a partner in Scott Hall LLP, or its predecessor, since 1996. Mr. Hall serves as the Managing Partner of the firm.

Mr. Hall’s practice has consisted of general litigation in all areas and in all of Alberta’s courts. He has developed an extensive practice in insurance defence litigation and acts for a number of prominent insurance institutions. He has frequently lectured to these clients on various topics of interest. He has represented the firm within the Risk Management Counsel of Canada, an association of law firms across Canada that practice extensively in risk management and insurance defence. In 2005, he commenced the role of Sessional Professor at the University of Calgary Faculty of Law, where he teaches Insurance Law to second and third year law students.

As well, Mr. Hall is experienced in oil and gas litigation, professional liability, commercial litigation, employment law and environmental law. He has appeared frequently to defend charges against corporations arising out of the Occupational Health and Safety Act of Alberta. He has also represented a number of professionals in disciplinary proceedings brought by their professional associations.

Mr. Hall has significant experience in securities litigation.

AVOCATIONS:

For 8 years, Mr. Hall coached hockey at Trails West Community Association.

For 11 years, Mr. Hall has coached youth baseball, both Little League and with Calgary Babe Ruth Baseball Association.

Mr. Hall is an avid golfer, playing out of the Glencoe Golf and Country Club.
