PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND:
Marney Lutz articled in Calgary
in 1993 with a major Calgary firm and continued to practice
law there until joining Scott Hall LLP in January, 2003.
She joined the partnership at that time.
Marney's practice has been exclusively in civil
litigation, primarily in insurance and risk management,
with a particular focus on personal injury litigation.
She is a frequent lecturer to client groups on civil
and insurance litigation.
Marney's recent trial experience includes the leading
decisions of Brubacher v. Augustine (slip
and fall) and Moser v. Derksen (chronic pain).
Marney also has experience in sports waiver litigation,
including Ocha v. Canadian Mountain Holidays (heli-skiing)
and Dyck v. Laidlaw (skydiving). Marney's
experience also includes the defense of sexual assault
claims on behalf of industrial defendants and "tainted
blood" litigation, including the defense of the Canadian
Red Cross Society in Hepatitis and Creutzfeld-Jacob
disease claims.
