PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND:
Before studying law, Ms. Russell
was an economist with the Alberta government and then
a large Alberta corporation. After graduation in law
from the University of Toronto, she articled with
a major Calgary law firm and practiced in the areas
of commercial and insurance litigation. In 1987, she
joined another major Calgary firm where her focus was
on commercial litigation, including insurance defense
work, oil and gas, aviation, employment and family
law.
She joined Singleton Urquhart Scott, now Scott Hall
LLP, where she has been a partner since 1997. In addition
to traditional advocacy, she has had training in and
uses interest-based negotiation and mediation. She
is a respected practitioner in family law and insurance
defense work, especially on professional liability
matters. She also continues to act on commercial,
environmental, constitutional and aboriginal law issues.
