PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND:
After being admitted to the Alberta Bar in 1973, R. Gordon Cormie practiced in Calgary with several prestigious law firms before becoming a partner at Scott Hall LLP. Mr. Cormie’s experience in the area of corporate/commercial and oil and gas (resource and energy) law has allowed him the opportunity to work on many types of transactions. These include sale, purchase or exchange of resource and energy related assets through either asset or share transactions. These types of transactions typically necessitate knowledge of appropriate regulatory bodies in Alberta and throughout Canada. Although his main focus is the Province of Alberta, Mr. Cormie has advised on transactions on behalf of clients involved in the United States, Europe and the Far East. Mr. Cormie has acted as a director and officer of a number of public companies, as well as private companies, most of which are active in the resource-energy sector, to assist in developing corporate plans, such as public share offerings.
